Square mesh represents the second most common type of expanded metal. This type of perforation provides a bigger open area than diamond mesh. The direction of perforation can be rotated by 90° without major changes in design. Thanks to this property, the square mesh is commonly used in ventilation systems. Expanded metal with square mesh is often produced as flattened, which enables easier fitting into frames and higher variability. Expanded metal is produced according to the DIN 791 standard.
